God's Story In Us

’GOD’S STORY IN US,’ each one of us has a story, just like the women in the pages of the bible. Join us at the Winter Chill, as we trace the thread of some of their stories, how they intersect with ours, and how God uses both, to tell HIS story of redemption and hope.

The well-known phrase "for such a time as this" will always be associated with the story of Queen Esther, but it is just as applicable to the stories of lesser-known women of the Bible - and our own. Over this weekend we want to provide an environment in which you can pause, reflect and learn about the power of your story. We want you to be challenged and inspired by the stories of others and we want you to receive a greater glimpse of what God has been and is doing in your life.

Guest Speaker - Edwina Blair

Edwina is passionate about helping people engage in the scriptures in new and deeper ways. For more than twenty years she has done this through preaching and teaching as a local church minister in the Churches of Christ movement, and for the last five years, as the Academic Coordinator of Biblical Studies at the Australian College of Ministries (ACOM). She specialises in teaching the Old Testament, Biblical Hebrew and leading students on visits to the Holy Land. Through each of these elements, she is motivated by a desire for everyone she teaches, to see the larger story of God that spans the pages of our bible.

With over 50 years of life that includes many unexpected twists and turns, she is a living example of the way in which God doesn’t waste a single moment of our experiences – even those we wish had never happened. Over this weekend she hopes to encourage each woman to get to know and value her own story through the stories we sometimes don’t fully notice or appreciate in the bible.

Edwina is married to Troy, Senior Pastor at Engage Community Church in Sydney’s Hills District, and both grew up in Wollongong. They have one adult daughter, Taylor who is studying at UoW. She has limited spare time as she is mid-way through her PhD in Old Testament, but when she does she longs for travel, a good book, a great TV series and a delightful pot of tea.
