What We Believe

Jesus for Everyone. Forever.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the central person of history. He is man and God.

Jesus is God who has come into our world as a human to save us from ourselves and our natural inclination to turn away from our creator God. Jesus is Saviour. In fact, that is what Jesus’ name means – Saviour. His other name is Christ – not His family name or His surname but His title.

Jesus is Lord. He is Lord of all, including you and me. Believe it!

He came for us, lived for us, died for us, and was raised again for us.

God Himself promised this: Jesus is for everyone. Forever.

“God loved the world in this: He sent His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will have life forever.” (John 3:16, The Bible)

What makes for a follower of Jesus?

To be a follower or disciple of Jesus simply means to follow Him. And Jesus calls us to follow Him! To trust Him as Saviour. To obey Him as Lord: disciplined and committed to hear His words and live them out.

Figtree Anglican Church is a place to belong; to find out more about Jesus and to hang out with other people exploring Jesus and following Him. To do this, we read the best and most popular book ever – the Bible

It teaches us who Jesus is, what Jesus has done, and what Jesus continues to do in changing our lives for the better… and how we should respond to Him in repentance and faith. Even more, knowing Jesus gives life meaning and purpose. Jesus is for everyone. Forever.

The Bible is at the centre of our lives together and our message to the world because it is the word of our Father God. It is given to us by the Spirit of God and with Him it points us to Jesus, the Son of God.

What is the Bible about?

The details of the history of God’s plan and His purposes for you, for me, for everyone else, and even for our world, are found in the Bible.

The story begins at creation. It describes how human beings stuffed up in their rebellion against our good, generous God. It tells us about His plan to save us from this through His Son, Jesus, and His purpose for a full and wonderful restoration of all things at the end of time and history.
