Mental Health Seminar
Thu 16 October from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

What is mental health (well-being)? What is mental illness? And what is the difference? How does our Christian faith intersect with mental illness?
In this seminar we’ll explore some answers to these questions using the social sciences and a biblical understanding of what it is to be human. Together we’ll discuss how this knowledge and understanding can assist us in nurturing our mental health. And navigating how to live well when there are episodes of mental illness.
In Australia, 1 in 5 people aged 16–85 (22%, or 4.3 million) experienced a mental disorder in the last 12 months. Christians are not immune, and these rates are similar in our churches. Most of us know and love someone who has a mental illness and this seminar is for you too.
Date: Thursday, 16 October
Time: 7-9pm
Location: Figtree Anglican Church foyer
The seminar will be facilitated by Steve Dinning from our 10am congregation. Steve is a Family & Life Skills Educator with Anglicare. He has a background in social work and ordained Anglican ministry.
