New Testament 1 looks at the first three Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), particularly Mark’s Gospel. Its purpose is twofold.

The aim firstly to impart information: to give students a working knowledge of the contents and significance of the Gospels. However, the gospels were not written simply to impart information. They were written to evoke a response in readers - both in belief and in conduct. Students will therefore need to reflect on what they learn to discover how it touches them at every level.

The second aim is to convert some of the techniques and methods of analysing and studying the Gospels, and indeed the Bible as a whole. In some sense, this second purpose is the more important, for once you know how to approach the Bible, you can do it for yourself. This will involve learning to ask the right questions about the text and learning to gather relevant information.

Cost: $30, which includes the printed booklet.
